How to complete a DBS (Criminal Record) check

All match officials over the age of 16 that wish to referee in youth football or hold any of the following roles;


  • Referee Observer
  • Match Day Coach
  • Referee Coach
  • Referee Mentor
  • Referee Developer (Tutor)


Must have an in date DBS check in order to carry out these duties and register each season. 


You can apply for a new DBS should you need to using the the following steps. 


1. Visit https://myaccount.thefa.com and log in with the same email and password that you would use for the Referee Portal or previously the Whole Game System. 


2. Click on Safeguarding at the top of the screen as shown below;



3. Then you will see a dark blue button that is shown below saying Start DBS, click on this. 



4. Upon clicking this button you will be emailed a form that you need to complete and you have 48 hours in order to complete this. 


5. Upon completing the form you will have to upload your identification and documents to confirm you are who you said you are and this will then be the end of the checking process and you should wait for your certificate to be posted out too you via post. 


IMPORTANT NOTES


Match Officials that are just completing their referee course do not pay for this check so to start your process please email safeguarding@middlesexfa.com Match Officials that are already in the role must pay for the check at a cost of £11. Please ensure that you select the Volunteer Role upon getting to the end of the form.
